And that was the Final

For what has been an edge of the seat exciting contest IPL, the final was a poor tribute to the entire leagues vibe. One could not have asked for a more one sided affair.

Choosing to bat on what was purported to be an absolute belter of a pitch, the Sunrisers managed a paltry 113 in their innings. The fire power of the Head and Abhishek duo, fizzled out into a tame ember. The runs dried up and wickets fell like a pack of cards. The Knightriders were all over the Sunrisers and the cricket loving public were left wanting.

As expected the Knightriders rose to the occasion and won in royal style. Befittingly the more consistent side win. But they too would have wanted more of a fight from their opponents. The target of 114 was way too easy. And the men in purple just cruised their way to a well earned IPL title. The third for the franchise and one that was achieved a decade after their 2014 win.

Credit goes to the Captain Shreyas Iyer and his talented crew of players. Some established and supremely talented and others, young and emerging. Shining on the IPL canvas. The captain was all praise for his merry band of Knightriders.

“It is pleasing and the performance has been flawless throughout. I am running out of words right now. We have been tremendous right from game one, and when we stepped [out] all we demanded from ourselves was to back each other no matter the situation.”

After two months and a bit and 74 games, one team stand triumphant. They lived up to their motto.  Korbo lorbo jeetbo ( try, fight, win). Until another Indian summer, one will wait to devour all the talent on show. That is the beauty of the Indian Premier League it gives you the chance to live your dream.

Here’s to the fabulous game of cricket and to those talented souls who make it all come alive.

And this was the final. Till the next time, keep playing on that stage, we call life.
