Mumbai’s mecca for Cricket is hosting Giles Shield.

Rizvi Springfield, after losing out on Harris Shield, owing to star players’ absence, were determined to leave no stone unturned this time around. Don Bosco played David, edging Harris Shield holders A. L. Barkaat by 2 runs in Semis.mOpting to bat first, after winning the toss, skipper Abhinav Singh (85) bamboozled Don Bosco with 17 boundaries and Owais Khan (47) complemented with ball crossing the rope 10 times. Mohit Tanwar(127) picked up the mantle as Chris D’Britto bowled Prince Singh for a golden duck. A player is tested in adverse condition,s and his 233 ball knock with 13 boundaries deservedly got him the “Best batsman“ trophy, in the light of his 3rd consecutive ton in Giles Shield. With Tejas Chalke (100), Mohit chalked up a 178 runs partnership, spanning about 50 overs. To put gloss on the scoreboard, all-rounder Umar Khan thrashed 57 in 59 balls with 9 boundaries. After Umar fell, the innings was declared at 495/8 after 135.2 overs. Chris D’Britto stood for Don Bosco, taking 3/90 in a dominating batting display by Rizvi. Facing a gargantuan total, Don Bosco openers could have stayed longer on pitch as Allen Bavachan got run out for 18 to Faaz khan, who also got Jyotiraditya Madane early for 08. Watching a bleak outfit, Umar khan pounced on by picking up Aryaraj Nikam for 5. Wickets dropped for fun while Skipper Sahil Jadhav (150*) held one end, while scoreboard reflected 87/6 after 42.4 overs. It was looking like a landslide victory for Rizvi…except it wasn’t. Nutan Rizvi (52) toiled with skipper to keep Bosco alive and slowly dragging away from a possible humiliation. Umar Khan removed him with 186/8 on board followed soon by Arya Chowkidar (03). Umar Khan picked up 4 wickets for Rizvi. The resilience portrayed by tailenders were commendable, with infallible Sahil helping Bosco to force out a draw, which although assisted by a flurry of missed catches by Rizvi, can’t undermine the soul of this 3-day format to aim for longer stints. Rizvi picked up the trophy on basis of lead but Bosco held their head high after denying the satisfaction of getting the other team all out. The final ceremony was conducted under the presence of former Indian Cricketer Yujuvindra Singh amongst other notable persons as the tournament ended on a successful note. Anjuman Islam, the ominous boisterous band, entertained in second half of 3rd day with their performance.
