Stanislaus knocks Don Bosco Borivali out with an effortless 3-0 victory.
3 August, 2017, MSSA ground, Mumbai.
St. Stanislaus locked horns with Don Bosco Borivali in the first Division 1 qualifier of the MSSA. The game, delayed by an hour due to the absence of an on-field physiotherapist, turned out to be a nightmare for the Bosco-ites. Although Bosco looked very good in the initial stages of the game, St. Stanislaus had only 1 clear opportunity in the start of the first half and they capitalised it with Joshua D’souza finishing Saurabh Gupta’s delivery. Gupta later on assisted Calvin D’Silva who scored after a series of attacks on a disheartened Bosco defence.
In the second half, Stanislaus dominated their opponents. The forwards were chiselling past Bosco’s defence, Joshua whipped in a lovely cross and Vitallian scored with brilliant header and booked Stanislaus’s place in the MSSA second finals. The players played clean and calm football in absolutely perfect weather conditions; the game was a pleasure to watch. There were no physical fouls and no bookings; Stanislaus earned their spot in the semi-finals by developing the game skilfully and finishing with a score line of 3-0.
